Brandon Trust has worked with the South Gloucestershire Learning Difficulties Partnership Board for the past year to address the under-reporting of disability hate crime. An aspect of disability hate crime, that particularly affects people with learning disabilities, is ‘mate crime’, where people are befriended to exploit them. The victim will rarely, if ever report this kind of crime. These crimes are often not correctly identified leading to the victim not getting the support they need. These workshops have been developed and presented with two Assistant Trainers who have learning disabilities.
