Group Consultations Facilitator Training

BNSSG Training Hub Group Consultations Facilitator Training

The BNSSG Training Hub has developed training for primary, community and social care staff wishing to become Group Consultation Facilitators. This training has been developed in partnership with NHSE/I South West, following their ongoing workshops on implementing group consultations in general practice.

Group consultations are shared medical appointments, delivered by a clinician and a facilitator to a group of patients who have similar health issues. The facilitator’s role is to coordinate the group consultation; supporting patients to contribute and to get the most from their time both with the clinician and with their peers.

Facilitators do not have to have a clinical background. The role would suit anyone in primary care who enjoys working directly with patients. It would also suit service users who facilitate patient groups.

This free-to-attend training is an interactive half-day workshop, run by an experienced facilitation skills coach, aims to give attendees the confidence to engage with patient groups, and the practical skills to run the group consultation process effectively.

The details of the training are as follows:

Thursday 19th March, 09:00 – 14:00, Holiday Inn, Filton (lunch provided)

Thursday 2nd April, 09:00 – 14:00, Cadbury House, Congresbury (lunch provided)

Thursday 30th April, 09:00 – 14:00, Engineer’s House, Clifton (lunch provided)
