Substance use treatment services in England are, it appears, facing a crisis. Recent reports by both the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and the Recovery Partnership have pointed to a range of problems, which threaten to push services ‘beyond the tipping point’. These include swingeing cuts in funding, rapid re-tendering cycles, loss of qualified staff and lack of political support.
