The Well Aware freephone telephone information service will be open on weekdays from 9am to 4.30pm throughout Christmas and the New Year, apart from the Bank Holidays on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 December and Monday 2 January.
Well Aware is the free health and wellbeing information website (www.wellaware.org.uk ) for Bristol and South Gloucestershire. It has more than 6,000 entries with categories ranging from ‘support around the home’ and ‘socialising’ to ‘getting around’ and ‘personal health services’ and much other useful information.
It is accessible 24/7 and is used extensively by individuals and professionals. While anyone can get the information online, many don’t use a computer or prefer to talk to another human being.
‘That’s why there’s a freephone telephone line (0808 808 5252) during weekday office hours,’ a spokesperson said. ‘Calls are answered by one of Well Aware’s small team based at the Vassall Centre in Fishponds, Bristol. When you phone, all you have to do is tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll look up the information for you and tell you on the phone, by email or print it out and put it in the post. It’s as simple as that.’
