South Gloucestershire Council Covid-19 Winter Grants: Food Vouchers

The pandemic and lockdown have had a negative effect on the capability of many people across South Gloucestershire to manage household bills. Impacts include anxiety about Covid-19 itself, job losses, money worries, isolation and food poverty.

The Winter Grant Scheme aims to assist vulnerable households through the winter months and is funded by a ‘Covid-19 winter grant’ from central government, administered by South Gloucestershire Council.

The grants are to support the work of organisations that are helping people to get enough food to eat in households experiencing  financial hardship as a result of Covid-19. At least 80% of the grant is to be used to support households with children.

Funds will be allocated to a range of organisations working with vulnerable residents across South Gloucestershire.

Eligible organisations are:

  • mutual aid groups
  • registered charities
  • voluntary and community organisations
  • schools
  • food banks
  • care organisations
  • general practitioners

The grants will be awarded up to a maximum of £1000 in the form of supermarket vouchers. Grant applications are to cover the winter period and can be made from January to March 2021. More than one application can be made and all awards will be made by 31 March 2021.

Each application will be reviewed to ensure it meets the minimum criteria for funding and this will be done on a rolling basis between January and March 2021.

If you represent one of the organisations listed above, click on the link below, where you can download and complete the application form.
