We Care and Repair Twiddlemuffs knitting session!
29 October, 11am-2pm, Motex Centre, Winterstoke Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 3YW
On Saturday 29 October from 11am – 2pm WE Care and Repair staff, volunteers and visitors will be gathering at the Equipment Display Centre in Weston to make and assemble Twiddlemuffs.
Healthwatch Bristol recently invited WE Care and Repair onto the Healthwatch Bristol Wellbeing Show on BCfm to talk about their range of services supporting older people. Listen back to the show here: http://bit.ly/2cFZGG0 Healthwatch Bristol will be joining WE Care and Repair on 29 October so you can find out more about what we do and about our focus for October – December (Age, health and wellbeing) while you knit, sew and get creative!
For those whose are wondering what on earth is a Twiddlemuff – wonder no more…
WE Care and Repair will be making the Twiddlemuff’s for people living with Dementia as the sensation of touching something soft with different textures can be very calming and help to make people to feel more relaxed. The Twiddlemuffs can then be given to clients being supported by WE Care and Repair caseworkers, displayed at the Waterloo centre and donated to local hospices.
No need to be a knitting or crafts expert – if you’d like to sew ribbon together, sort through materials to add to the muffs or just come along for some cake and chat – you are all welcome as are family and friends. WE Care and Repair will also be suppling some muffs that will be in need of decorating.
On the day feel free to bring along any materials you’d like to use and snacks and treats to share. Supplies will also be provided as WE Care and Repair is currently supporting a lady through their project Making Space who has kindly donated a plethora of arts and crafts materials for people to make the muffs with. The Bristol Scrap store will also kindly provide materials.
Hope to see you there!
